they school with my harlequin rasboras (8) and it brings so much life to my tank.

so now i have

9 rummynose tetras
8 harlequin rasboras
4 neon tetras
20+ red cherry shrimp
9 nerite snails.

i wonder what else i should get. maybe a nice centerpiece fish. like a german blue ram? or maybe a betta fish.

yeah. admittedly ive been tempted. but at petstores theyre babies and are like 2 inches long, but they grow to be a good 12-15 inches.

i dunno if id want one of those in my tanks lol. maybe if i had a 100+ gallon. or a pond outside.

but i think there are smaller plecos? i never see them though.

i had a smaller pleco in my tank when i had one back in middle school, got no longer than four or five inches. i have no idea what kind or species it was though :/

Don't get a Betta. It will torment your poor tetras to no end. They are jealous little buggers. Go with the Blue Ram. They are chill as hell.

Edit: Oh, right. Also, I freakin' love tetras. Watching them school together is just so relaxing.

A blue ram will make quick work of those shrimp if it's not heavily planted.

yeah. its heavily planted. though algae is taking over, slowly. i used to have co2 going into the tank and dosed fertilizer but it became too much keeping up with all the maintenance that i gave up. but it really was because i was doing a DIY method of mixing citric acid and baking soda. i think ill save up 300ish dollars and get a tank system.

but hm. what's something that will co-exist with my shrimp.

Definitely don't get a betta. They are extremely aggressive towards other fish. Would probably kill some of your other fish.

yeah. but i think its really only toward fish that kinda look like bettas. like long fins, bright colors. but none of my fish do. but of course, the fish just could be a mean fish and terrorize them anyway lol.

maybe a female betta?

I always liked rummynoses, i've kept them in tanks before.

You ever see a Chili Rasbora? A little pricey but a brilliant school if you can afford 9 to a dozen or so.
