I really want to play 1 at least on my GPD Win, for the lulz (but I already own it, on disk, from long ago, and my laptop doesn't have a disk drive at all).

Sure, the games will have to run at low settings on the thing, but still...

I want to replay the games that turned me into a mainline PC gamer (although I did play a lot of PC games back when I was a kid, although it was mostly ports of PS1 games or whatever).

And modern setups STILL struggle to play it above 60 FPS

Besides, the GPD Win is a goddamned handheld

Unsure how much space I would have on that for Origin, because Crysis 3 is not on Steam because EA is pissy about that.

Also, I have no idea what Crytek is doing these days, but it is time for Crysis VR to be a thing. That would push me over the edge to try out VR gaming (with my only prior "VR headset" thing was at Six Flags where both Superman: The Ride and Mind Eraser had VR headsets on both roller coasters for a brief time, and both had Xbox OG tier graphics).

Also, the game never aged. Crytek can simply poop out a port on the Xbox One and PS4, and nobody would be none the wiser.

Although, it's lack of aging is slightly less of that of Witcher 2. Witcher 2 stands the test of time, and in 2021, its 10 year anniversary, there will be commemoration about how that game more or less (along with Skyrim and Battlefield 3), kickstarted the 8th generation of gaming, long before consoles could do it.

Look at the screenshots for both Crysis and Witcher 2, and tell me that they still don't hold up to this very day.

I put the option for "Detect Optimal Settings", and it defaulted to MEDIUM.

This is a system that runs The Witcher 3 at max settings at 60 FPS at all times, with Nvidia Hairworks.

because Valve is pissy about that.

Fixed it for you. Valve started the blow up because Origin existed and drove EA off. Shame they backed off other publishers doing it after ****ing up with EA releasing their library on Steam, since while EA did Steam versions without forcing another client, Ubisoft have no problem making everyone run two clients.

Still can't believe it's been 10 years.

On my system at least, I saw no frame drops, and everything set to max.

On top the that, the game is still beautiful, especially since it was made for more limited hardware.

It stands the test of time unlike any other game I have played, with the possible exception for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.

No they don't. Crysis 1 and 2 can max at 4k on half budget builds in the 100s of FPS. Not that the game isn't beautiful, but for modern PC's it's barely taxing for these systems.
