That's the appeal IMO.

You're gonna keep going then sooner or later you'll beat Satan. Then Isaac. Then Blue Baby in the chest. The game does an amazing job if making you feel like you're getting better then BOOM. You just barely beat a new boss. Keep on truckin man. It's worth it.

For what it's worth, Afterbirth+ is widely considered to be a bad expansion that adds very little quality to the game and makes it way harder to boot.

I understand it adds a copy paste boss with no real new graphics, a harder difficulty for greed mode, pretty meh items and some incredibly annoying enemies, notably this portal thing that warps in a lot of enemies if you can't take it down quickly.

I had this problem before afterbirth+. I enjoyed the gradual rise in difficulty but it seems like it jumped too much. Now I can't beat it unless I have a really good item set.

Currently at 20 deaths in a row.
