They already got rid of AMC, and now they are going to stop broadcasting ABC, Fox, and CW. what's really weird is that that means the local ABC news station might be shutting down. there is no other alternative to cable, and the only other option is satellite tv. and I don't think I can get that cause I live in an apartment. I might have to get hulu again....

wish i could suggest getting one of those receivers that get signals. it only works if in a certain area and it could pick up some of the local channels.

hulu does have stuff but not everything but they're better then netflix in terms of TV content.

That really sucks. When I was a kid, the local cable company got into a pissing contest with Viacom and they lost a whole host of channels (including Nickelodeon). Tons of people, including my family, switched to satellite as a result.

You may be able to get satellite; just check your lease or ask the landlord. At my old place, people had the dishes out on their balconies (though the management forbid new tenants from having them).

I thought the signal came from the stations themselves, not a cable company.

most apartment complexes will allow you to have a dish on the side of your apartment.
it's described in the terms of your lease in which anyone signs.

not much cheap options unless bundle everything.
this varies depending on how many cable providers in your area to get best deal.
