so i told her to go to the bank and get me $100 in ones.

So she did.

100 chances to find some valuable bills. I likely wont because odds arent great, but its free treasure hunting.

hooray!

Even if you dont find any valuable ones you could just go to a bank and exchange them all for coins, then bring them to another bank and exchange those for new bills. Rinse and repeat until you get some good number combos.

So I didnt see anything too cool in these, so maybe now i can do a stripper/cocaine montage money throw.

what am I looking for? All kinds of things. low print-run star notes, valuable serial number patterns(full solid of numbers, low serial, etc), web press notes(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_notes), mismatched serial numbers, older bills, error bills, US notes and silver certificates.

Now finding stuff of value isnt easy to do certainly. if it was this would be a more well known money grab. I look because I find it fun and there is valuables out there, even if rare.

Mead has a good idea. Some people do just that. Go to bank A, get a hundred dollars in ones, then if nothing found bank B asking for quarters or dimes or whatever and on and on. Its just frowned upon to take the same bills and coins back to the same bank(you dont want to risk getting the same rolls of coins or bills when you go back).

I dont do a whole lot of banking in this regard because I generally do all my treasure hunting at work since I am a cashier. But on my off days i generally now go to an ATM, get out money(my bank lets me get out in increments of $1) then just use the ATM to deposit it back.

Free hobby essentially and some things you can find are pretty valuable.

Ive never actually gotten $100 in ones from a bank before. its not an odd request because its their job to give money to people, but i just generally dont like dealing with people. Now I just got two 50 straps of random circulated bills, but you could ask if they have brand new, fresh bills. If they do, you could get lucky and have a number pattern that could be very valuable running consecutively through it or a string of valuable notes. Like say you had some great luck and had a fresh, uncirculated strap of bills starting at 55555500

Youd have a full solid which goes for big money(55555555) and also seven of a kind and in a row, such as 55555551, 552, 553, etc.

Guy on youtube works at a bank in germany and get US money a lot. he found one hundred fresh, uncirculated, new car smell bills all low print run star notes. He knows value and said in their condition(perfect/about perfect) each one was worth 50-100 bucks each since they were low print run and also immaculate condition.

Im arranging a deal to sell a guy a bill of mine for $50+shipping/insurance.

It is a...50 dollar note! so that makes the total money i've gained doing this zero dollars. I have things worth money over face, but not many if any huge scores, as they are rare. I am kinda hoarding stuff for now because it almost will never lose value unless damaged so these are safe investments. You might have something where the market comes and goes for it, but itll never really lose below face value unless damaged while you own it.

The bill in question is a 1950 fifty dollar bill. IF it did not have pen marking i'd attempt to make a profit, but I am not gonna do that with defacing(even if minor), and for the love of it I suppose i'm letting it go to a good home.
