Make Final Fantasy for men again. No more of these female protagonists, extra costumes, and cutesey bullshit all over the place.

FFXV is the first all-male party since FFI.

I actually really enjoyed FFXV. The only other FF games ive played are 1,2, and Tactics.

I'm not saying that I didn't have some fun with ffxv, but I don't feel that it's the direction the series needs to take. The developers saw that people were buying WRPGs and tried this confusing mixture of the two styles.

Way too much time spent wandering and driving on ffxv. The games don't have to be on rails, but the vast open world got boring fast. There were massive gaps in gameplay segments because of the hassle of traveling.

agree to disagree. I hate the new action rpg system that they took, and I finished the damn game. Hell, their crowning moment didn't come until the very end with the Pitioss Ruins.

FF15 is just another example that they are willing to release an unfinished product if it means they will please their Publisher overlords.

Its bad enough they did it with Final Fantasy 14, to the point where they had to hire on a brand new staff to redo the entire game and issue a public apology for its badness, but to release another Final Fantasy game which had huge chunks of the game missing from it, all because they gave up on Tetsuya Nomura for Hajime Tabata, whose accolades include FF Type 0, and Crisis Core. Not to mention he only worked on off games prior. None of which were amazing.

Even Nomura came out and said that FF15 took a direction that was away from his vision of the game. The guy had a hand in both FF6 and FF7s story, which are both critically acclaimed. He hasn't had a story role since those games in any of the final fantasy games, which is a shame. Clearly the guy knew what he was doing.

This started with ffxii: the worst non-online final fantasy to date.

Unfollow.

13 was fun.

Honestly, I could have overlooked the mediocre story and bland characters if the gameplay was actually engaging. It was boring. As flawed as it was, FFXIII's quick pace made it much more enjoyable, imo.

Action rpg mixed with western elements of vast world maps just ruined this game.

"Bethesda is taking in money with this formula, so let's just copy cat it and throw in some chocobos!"

FF12's gameplay is its best aspect, I'd put it and X-2 at the top of the list for battle systems which were a lot more engaging than fully TBS. The story is rather forgettable upon replaying it and the characters are whatever so it's definitely not the best one out there but to say it's worse than 13? Worse than 2? lmao. Better than 8 as well, which was also rather bland storywise but also had one of the easiest battle systems to date.

13 and 2 are legit the only two FF games I just couldn't finish (well, I haven't started 15 yet so I have to reserve judgement on that one). I found myself forcing myself to keep going and, after a while, I just realized I straight up wasn't having fun and that's the entire point.

They did.

It's called Project Octopath Traveler, and to a lesser extent Bravely Default.

Square-Enix has said 100% that older style RPG's will continue to be made, but not under the FF name.

I would absolutely love a tradition turn based Final Fantasy, but with modern graphics. Like, if FF7 remake was shot for shot, with pretty ass graphics and voice acting (cleaned up translation), it'd literally be the GOAT game.

Instead we're going to get the same boring fight mechanics from FFXV, Type-0 HD, and other boring newer Square titles.

Watch out. People tend to get upset if you say you enjoyed FF13

The hate for FF13 seems to go to the extremes a lot

I just might. Even more than Xenogears?

Xenogears is much longer than DQ7

If you really want to play a huge fucking encyclopedia worth of text for an RPG, Planescape: Torment is three times larger than Xenogears.

Oh, I know. They also defend FF12 like Nintendo fans defended the Wii.

13 was interesting, but it didn't feel like Final Fantasy and took way too long to deliver on what it could have possibly been like.

It basically made me feel like the game had to walk me through everything before it trusted me to know how to play it, when it was one of the most simple FF combat engines in history.

I really didn't care for the first half of the game's pacing, either. What I enjoyed about that game is that you couldn't just hit X a few times and win. You had to be clever with your paradigms and some of the random enemies were refreshingly challenging.

I could see them going more traditional. A lot of the old franchises are going back to their roots or returning to older elements and finding success.

I wouldn't rule out turn based anymore. Persona 5 is no where near as big as Final Fantasy and sold over 2 million.

see, I'm the opposite....kind of.... I enjoyed 13, and loved 13-2, but hated 13-3. 12 was garbage though, as I've previously said, I can't stand it.
