It feels like they screwed up and overleveled all the monsters in Morlia by like 15 levels. You don't absolutely need to grind if you know what you're doing, but it's very much encouraged with the loot system / rarity of good items, skill trees, etc. and the ease with which you can do it (since most quests and all areas are reset when you create a game).
