Yeah, that likely colors my opinion on things. I dont have white guilt over it - all the money my southern side of the family had back in the day was just enough to eat grits 3 times a day. I also got a granddad who fought the Japanese in the Navy in WWII. I look at the Confederacy as a piece of American history when the country was fractured. A lot of early American history would be considered fucked today. But the early 13 Stars and Stripes flag probably doesnt rile folks up in the same way. I dont see the Axis powers in WWII or anything affiliated with them as anything but antithetical to America.
