No I think youre thinking of your drivers license. I think the TC is talking about the little sticker that goes on your license plate.

Haha no shit? I went through a random breath test last night and I got an 186AUD fine for having an expired license. I had no idea, usually they send you a letter when it's time to renew but I didn't get one. They also breath tested me, drug swabbed me and searched my car because of my history.

Idiots didn't find anything.

In Florida your driver's license and your registration expires on your birthday. You have until the end of your birth month to renew your registration.

There is a court date on your citation. Go to court.

Youll be asked to plead guilty or not guilty to the charges.

Show the court the paper that shows that the tags were valid on the day you were stopped. If you lost it, just request another from the county clerk.

The citation should be dismissed, but it may stand simply because its supposed to be on your plate. Most judges arent going to be that strict though.

Still pretty sure every state gives you like a month+ notice if you're gone for that long and not having someone collect or forward your mail you only have yourself to blame.

In New York you can renew your registration online, and they just mail you the registration and they give you temporary cards to print out. For license renewal you can do it online but apparently you still need to pass a vision test and fill out a form which looks incredibly easy, you can also renew it at any time as long as it expires within a year.

I did sign up for the email notifications for inspections last year so IDK how well it works, I can understand that expiring since the registration is good for 2 years but the inspection only 1.

Although because I have an enhanced license that allows travel to Canada I do need to go in to update my photo if it is over 16 years old, so I'm good for another 12 on that.

Get it fixed and take it to court with you. I had an expired sticker on my windshield and the cop pulled me over on my way to get it done. He gave me a ticket and I showed the judge that I got it fixed and she let me go on with my day.

I love Australia because as long as your total is under 10k you can just pile on fines onto a service that lets you pay around 30 dollars a week until you've paid all your fines off.

That' sucks. Around here you're able to take the vehicle to a judicial building and have a peace officer inspect and sign off that the sticker is now in place and that's that. Well, you also pay a $10 fee; which beats the hundreds of dollars that get tacked onto traffic tickets.
