I'm thinking about getting one for Christmas but want to hear some feedback. Are there a decent amount of games for it now?

I think that depends more on the type of games you want. And for some of the indie games and games on other systems, it depends what you have already...

I spent months shitting on it and now own one. I don't regret the purchase, but I never use it because I don't like portable and it's in the living room, where I generally don't enjoy being (but my wife wants it out there and it's the only feasible place for multiplayer).

Depends if you like Nintendo franchises.

I would say absolutely.

There's quite a few really high profile titles on the Switch if you're the type that only cares about AAA exclusives... but honestly the ones I've found make me enamored with it are all the small greats. Wonderboy, Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack, Floor Kids, Poi... and the sheer versatility of the hardware even makes massively multiplat titles a little more valuable on the Switch.

I'm already creating tons of memories with my son and daughter playing Fast RMX, USF2 & Mario Kart... and the wife and I play Snipperclips all the time.

Wouldn't even consider it if I didn't like Nintendo.

I'm going to say no, based only on my own preferences, because I tire of Mario as a franchise, BotW was also on the Wii U (which I have), and we don't know enough about Metroid Prime 4 for me to get excited for it. Nothing else currently announced or out for the system interests me, exclusive or no. So, for me, getting a Switch would be a waste of money.

For you? Consider your own preferences, and go from there.

Probably not until "Metroid Prime 4" and "Pikmin 4" come out. Then there'll be at least three games worth buying for it.

do you have a wii u?

Name 3 exclusive games you want to play on it?

if it's Mario, Arms and XenoBlade 2. Then yes get it.

if you have splatoon on the wii u it's not really worth the upgrade right now. But yes splatoon 2 is good. But it's like buying mario kart 8. it's not a huge jump.

That's a valid reason to give, say, a new NSMB a skip, but Odyssey is a very different game from 3DW or Galaxy. There are gameplay similarities at the most fundamental level, but that's about it, and if you're tried of those, that's going to extend to a whole lot more than just Mario.

Especially with how many higher-profile WiiU titles have been ported or given a very similar sequel (Splatoon 2). MK8 in particular is one of the best MK games, so if you haven't had a chance to play it before now, picking up the remake is a fine idea.

I've seen enough gameplay to say no, Odyssey is a quintessential Mario game. Simply having a few differences, all tied to that hat and its few mechanics, is not enough to make it otherwise.

It's the only console I ever purchased on launch. My two most played titles are Has-Been Heroes (not an exclusive) and Splatoon 2.

Super Mario Odyssey actually made me cut down on Smite & Overwatch.

There are a LOT of titles out, but the main plus is you can play the Switch anywhere - on the plane, in your bedroom, basking next to the pool, falling off the escalator, AND the TV. It's a good thing #Smith isn't on the Switch or no one would ever see me again...
