The sweeping Republican tax bill on the verge of final passage would repeal the individual mandate in 2019, potentially taking millions of people out of the health insurance market. On top of that, the Trump administration has killed some subsidies, halved the insurance enrollment period, gutted the Obamacare marketing campaign, and rolled out a regulatory red carpet for skimpy new health plans that will change the insurance landscape in ways that are harmful to former President Barack Obamas signature health care law.

None of these individually represent a death blow. But in aggregate, the past year adds up to a slow, stealthy erosion of the law.

They obviously couldn't kill it, so they're trying to starve it slowly," said Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.), who sits on the House Ways and Means Committee, which helped write the original law.

From the moment politics became a pissing match between two sides, it was ruined. It's not about and should never be about "undoing whatever the other side did!!!!", it should be for the good of your goddamn country. Fuck this bipartisan bullshit.

Obamacare ended up being an interesting experiment but it ultimately caused more harm than good. I say good riddance

You know health care and insurance is going to get worse, right?

It's not going to start recovering from Obamacare being picked apart. The positives will be eroded, the negatives will get worse, and more negatives will arise, and rates will go up

I'm ok with it if that happens. Want insurance? Pay your bills.

Deductables? Yeah, sure. If it means it no insurance for those that refuse to buy it? Sure. I'm ok with paying more to keep people accountable.

Don't see what's trolling about it. Want insurance, buy it. I'm tired of the government hand outs. Obama phones were the last straw

They're slowly removing the infrastructure of the ACA to make it essentially implode so they can pass whatever nonsense they come up with on the basis of "We have no choice!"

Only because they'd choose not to be, because it's no longer a coerced purchase.

If anything, the end of the mandate would nudge prices down for the approximately three providers left on the exchange, because they know you no longer have to do it.

You clearly don't know how insurance works in this country if you think the ACA was a "handout" bill.

Don't pay for insurance? You got it. On top of that, forcing fines on people who don't have it was an overreach of power. It was garbage. My tax dollars are fine to be used for things like roads or cops but things like YOUR insurance or YOUR cell phone? You can do without. Leave my tax money alone
