Fun fact - Porgs were created entirely because the island they were filming at had a large puffin population. It was easier/less expensive to incorporate them and modify their appearance than to completely edit them out.

I think they could have compromised by having this happen, but the one on the right gets away with only a burn scar on his nose or cheek or something. Hell, that could have been an identifier for the little bastard in later scenes - everyone would recognize Scorchmark, they could have made a mint on Scorchmark plushies, etc.
