I am a registered democrat and my mother is too. I have been thinking what have they ever done for me? I can't think of a single thing. While I am not currently employed my mother is so she will benefit from the tax cut as will I too by virtue of sharing the same residence as her.
I don't get it why are the democrats against it? Who wouldn't want to pay less taxes?

because the spending cut that accompanies it is too small (ie, creates a larger deficit) and/or comes from programs dems support like health insurance and corporate oversight.

Because the spending cuts that are going to result from it are going to come from health care programs, welfare, etc. They're already having trouble finding money for CHIP. It's going to expire in Alabama on the 1st.

Because they've accepted the lie that only the wealthy will benefit. Democrat politicians are against it because if Trump turns out to be right again, they've got nothing to come to the fight with in 2018. The media was indeed exposed as being left leaning, slashing regulations indeed turned out to help the economy, if he gets his tax cuts and they work, and the economy continues to grow, what's the Democratic Party going to run on?

most likely he'll blame it on the next dem president after Obama. Because the GOP is trying their hardest to make sure any fallout of the tax bill happens during the next presidency. Such as the benefits to the middle class going away in 10 years.

Less than 25% of Americans support it. More than 25% of Americans are conservative. You're wrong, LolCoast.

They want to cap Grad PLUS loans at 125k and remove PSLF. Virtually every medical school in the country costs more then that by a large margin.

Any political party that wants to punish me for the amount of work I'm putting in to becoming a doctor and pulling my own weight in society by obstructing the only means I have of finishing this journey is going to get an emphatic "fuck you."

I agree student loans are a problem. The issue is more with overpriced undergraduates getting degrees that aren't very marketable. My loan burden will certainly hurt, especially compared to the predecessors of my profession who never dealt with such a thing. But I won't have trouble paying it off at the end of the day.

This plan won't cap rising tuition, it'll just shift graduate education (which wasn't the main problem to begin with) to a private loan market, which will have less protections as a student and more opportunity to fuck me and put more money in the hands of the people making these policy decisions. It's very clear this isn't even rooted in conservative ideology, because it'll punish me for taking the "boot straps" approach. It's strictly a plan that serves to enrich those who purport it because they have their fingers in the pie.

Actually, they get a "double fuck you."
