My neighbor behind my house does that. Thing is the dogs don't even bark at anyone, they just stand at the door and whine. My next door neighbor is the one with the yappy dogs, but they don't bother me much, she only puts them out for bathroom breaks.

Overnight can get into the 30s. Lately it's been in the 50s in the morning which is pretty chilly here in the desert with no humidity.

This is weird because idk if the people doing it are even the ones who own the dogs. This kid from next door came over the other day to ask if we had seen anyone go in their house because the TV was on and there was a half eaten bag of chips left out that they didn't do. The kid's dad comes over once in a while to scream at them and start fights so he could be leaving them out on purpose while he's there. Usually these dogs just bark at Ernie when he's in the backyard.

Only time my brothers dog barks or whines is when he needs food, water, or the dumbass got his cord wrapped around something in a manner that makes you think "....How the hell did you do that....?", Folks bought a little heat lamp or something to at least warm up his general area when it's cold out, otherwise my brother would wanna bring him inside.......which isn't really possible given how big that dog is....

I feel ya, I live in an apartment complex and my neighbors who I affectionately refer to as "the garbage people" leave their shitbag dog outside for hours at a time, last winter they had the dog chained up during a FUCKING BLIZZARD

I try not to leave my pups outside for too long. I feel bad for dogs that are outside all day and night. I would rather have them cuddling on the couch.

yep. my pupper only goes out when he wants to go potty or sunbathe. then he comes in after 30 minutes or so. i don't trust his little ass to be alone in the backyard anyway. he's a little escape artist.

Dogs can be outside in that temp without serious issue for a little while.

That's if they're acclimatized and given appropriate protection from the cold.

It's still uncomfortable. If you have a dog and just leave it alone in the yard that's no life for an animal.

i'm going to guess they aren't used to it because they whine the whole time. i feel bad for them. they never used to be outside all the time. one time though i did call the non-emergency police line because the dad and mom were screaming at each other and the dogs were outside going batshit crazy barking and crying at around 1:30 in the morning.

Not exactly the same but not unrelated. My next door neighbour got a puppy a few years ago. Probably a substitute for having a baby with his misses. Anyway they both work and all they have done is locked the puppy(now a adult) in the kitchen while they go out working, drinking, living life. Makes me wonder why exactly they bothered getting something they can't care for in the first place. I mean all I hear is it barking and scratching on the door for many hours a day.

Mine, too. Every time it's quiet, i have to check on them. And they love to find ways to escape. But if they do, they walk around for a bit before sitting on the front porch. And they may scratch at the door. Or hang out in a neighbor's yard...

:( nothing wrong with leaving your dog home while you live your life if you've trained it right but when it causes your dog distress because you haven't that's sad.

ernie has really bad separation anxiety from his previous owner that i have never been able to train out of him. it can be difficult. sometimes we want to go out but don't because he's getting anxious.
