Mark Hamill said in an interview that George told him a little bit about those stories. He mentioned that Leia being adept with the Force was a major theme.

Can't remember the exact interview, otherwise I'd link it. He was promoting The Last Jedi so it was very recent.

There were several shifts in the story for the ST.

GL's original story was about the kids and more importantly Ben Skywalker. This had been known since the 90s.

Disney bought the story for 7-12 and then made it seem like everything was going good. But eventually they told Lucas to fuck off and then totally changed the story. At one point, the story for 7 was gonna be about Leia as Luke's first student.

Eventually they stuck to what TFA was. Then Rian came and changed things around for 8. And likely, Abrams is gonna change shit around again for IX.

There's no consistency. It's obvious Rian didn't like what neither Lucas nor Abrams did. Thing is, it's not his yet fully, so it will shift again.

The fact that there's no one single vision on what this trilogy should be or where it's headed is a massive problem. They're literally making it up as they go without a care for what's already been introduced.
Say what you will about Lucas. But this is one thing even he didn't do.

I love how people strain to try to not give George Lucas much credit or acknowledge how talented he is when he's responsible for the whole damn franchise and had to fight nearly everybody on the road to making A New Hope.

They acknowledge that he has a lot of creativity and skill, it's just that they also point out in the prequels he's surrounded by Yes Men and has no one to reign him in like he had in the OT.

Good! He's an auteur and has earned the right to not be reigned it. The idiosyncrasies of the prequels are what make them special.

I actually agree with this. I'd rather have someone's flawed but from the heart vision than some soulless corporate mishmash based on marketing data and focus groups.

Lucas crosses out a lot of storyboards and no-one intervenes. They just stand there, looking confused.
