Socialism would work if socialism was everywhere.

For example.

Imagine if Vermont allows slave labor and 80 hour weeks, including for children.

New Hampshire, meanwhile, does not allow children under 12 to be forced into labor and forces employers to give their workers 50 cents an hour of minimum wage and to provide them with basic safety requirements such as fire exits.

What do you think's going to happen?

What New Hampshire did is good, but employers won't like it. So all factories in New Hampshire will close up and relocate to Vermont where they can keep their workers in chains and they don't have to pay them.

So, people in New Hampshire will lose their jobs.

That's the problem with socialism. The rich can easily close up shop and move to someplace with better conditions for them and less rights for the poor people.

But the poor can't move out because they have no money. They're stuck wherever they are.

That's why socialism keeps failing.

Socialism fails because it's not everywhere.

Did Marx not claim as much (it needing to be everywhere)? I seem to remember that.
