But maybe they had some grime on them...then they brush/wash them again afterwards.

I have part dentures on my bottom teeth meaning I take them out at night to let my gums rest and without them in it's much harder to eat(although not impossible). I clean my part dentures and natural teeth before putting the part dentures back in and when taking them out for the night thus I brush my teeth before Breakfast. I still give my mouth and part dentures a rinse out after eating though.

I heard that if you eat first, then brush, you can end up brushing off some of the protection on your teeth because of whatever's in food. Not sure if it's true, though. I just eat when I want. And I usually wait until I'm about to leave for the day to brush my teeth. But I usually don't eat before I leave or even around the time I brush my teeth.

So shouldn't you brush before eating dinner instead of after?

Probably shouldn't brush right after. But if you eat dinner, then stay up for a while, it should be fine.

I heard something similar but only with acidic things. and orange juice was something specified as acidic enough which some people drink with their breakfast

i've also heard though as far as keeping your teeth healthy goes it doesn't really matter if you brush before or after eating, just that you do it. not saying its the truth though just something i've heard.

Because I don't eat breakfast at home and it's awkward to brush my teeth either at work or at an eatery where I stop to grab breakfast (particularly since I tend to eat in my car). That said, I often skip breakfast anyway.

The thing about not brushing your teeth after eating because it damages the enamel is largely an old wives' tale. Sour stuff, or anything else highly acidic, can soften the enamel and lead to damage, but most foods aren't acidic enough to have this effect.

There was a scare that sugar drops the pH of your saliva and has the same effect, but what actually happens is the bacteria in your mouth live off the sugar and they're what drop the pH. Brushing early is actually beneficial because it cleans the sugar away before the bacteria have much of a chance to consume it.
