Sure, I could save a lot of money but to not be the king of my castle? No thanks.

Why do parents want to kick their kids out as soon as they're 18? And vice versa, why do kids want out so bad when they turn 18? This is a western culture thing. I will never understand it.

If i was a parent I'd like to think I love my kids and get them prepped for the real world as much as possible. If I was a kid I'd want to be prepped as much as I can before I go out on my own.

I wouldn't want to live alone, don't really have any preference whether it's with parents or with other people (provided the other people are like, actually good roommates or whatever, which I know my parents already are so they get an advantage by default)

I don't mind housemates or alone, just not my parents. I'm not holding social events or bringing back dates to my mothers house. Just no.

I wouldn't mind having to live with my parents

they're chill and have a large house so I could easily occupy a section of it in relative privacy. Would beat sharing an apartment w/roommates but worse than living alone.

Is it not worse as an older adult, though?

For example, at 34 I like things my own way in my house. That can include the temperature, food, cleaning, etc. Further, I enjoy being able to do whatever I want to do without someone over my shoulder, particularly a parent.

I guess in my situation I'm able to do those things without interference from my parents anyways. Its like living with passive quiet roommates for me.

Only thing that does suck is my room is small

Living with my dad would be fine. When I was older and living at home we would kind of do our own thing and then hang out and watch tv together for like an hour a day. My only issue is that he was super cheap about the gas bill. My bedroom was cold as shit like see my breath cold on winter nights so he could save 20 bucks a month.

My mom was terrible to live with though. A lot of meddling and general acting like an asshole. I spent very little time around her when I was older and living at home.

I dealt with that kind of thing. When I lived with my mom she was under the belief that anything that consumed electricity cost a fortune. She refused to close the garage door, too much electricity. Threw out the toaster, too much electricity. You're microwaving that how long? Too much electricity. The dehumidifier that keeps the basement from turning into a mold pit? Too much electricity. Obviously no air conditioning. It took a hospital visit because she tripped and fell badly going up the stairs because she thought that twenty watt CFL porch light was going to put her in the poor house.
