Character arcs, story etc feels like a completely different universe than what TFA set up. JJ and Lawrence must be shaking their heads at this.

yeah thats why they brought in jj again, they saw the film in screening and must have crapped themselves in the future reaction and feedback. episode 7 sucked but not what like rian did in 8.

Yep, this is exactly my issue with the film. I actually enjoyed TLJ a lot, and it's still growing on me. But I could sense the director's hand guiding things in a dramatically different direction, and it took me out of the movie a little bit.

TFA was boring and unoriginal. and felt far too safe, mainstream and a rehash of ANH
i liked the different feel of TLJ, and thought it was better than episode 7. but not sure if it went in the right direction. it felt more like a marvel film rather than star wars --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I know people call it a "Marvel Star Wars" movie, but I liked that about it. It was pure action for 3 hours. It had some slower parts, but it never turned into boring conversations that dragged on for 20-30 minutes like what usually happens in star wars.
