Going for a Ryzen 5 1400 was a waste of money over a Ryzen 3 1200 and a M.2 SSD would've made more sense than a SATA SSD, but overall it's fine.

Coulda gotten a 1070 if you cut down on the PSU and the cpu. Though you could've just waited for the inevitable crypto crash which will drop GPU prices down 35% at least.

I'm fine with mistakes like this. Just making sure I didn't spend WAY too much. Or order the wrong shit. PCparts.com seemed to confirm they were compatible. I've never had a gaming PC but I have hella Humble Bundles claimed on Steam

LOL Sandisk

I have a SanDisk 240 GB SSD as my OS drive with a few games on it. It works just fine. There's not really a noticeable difference between it and the others.

Also TC it looks like you did fine. That'll game at 1080p really well. Got room for a graphics card upgrade down the line as well. Should do just fine.

putting this together is pretty easy, dont get overwhelmed.

Basically follow the motherboard manual and its just plugging shit into other shit and then screwing it inside the case.

Processor goes into processor spot on the motherboard, ram goes in the ram slot, graphics card goes into the motherboard, etc. then you just plug shit in based on the motherboard manual.

Check out r/buildapc, they are very helpful and have video guides you can follow too. But really its not hard. This will probably take like 2 or 3 hours your first time.

I HIGHLY suggest buying a static wristband for this btw, better safe than sorry

The single stick of RAM is the only dubious choice but given that RAM is bonkers expensive right now, I can see why that was done. Would definitely be my next upgrade though considering it's easy to do and is just adding on rather than replacing something you already have.

Since you're a newb, RAM can run in a 'dual channel' mode where two sticks work together to increase their overall performance and speed, so having a matched pair is recommended over a single stick

He bought a SSD so there is no reason to buy a Black drive.

The 240 GB on the SSD will fill up fast and he's still going to end up using the HDD. The extra performance, and more importantly, warranty on the black is worth the added price.
