Do I need to play the first one to get anything in 2?
Does 2 still has the thing where there are no fights that spawn etc, so there is a limit of monsters to kill over the course of the game? In 1 it felt a bit meh to me, but maybe it's not the same feeling anymore?

I've been playing DOS2 without having played any of the others

I am not missing much story, plenty of lore to read in-game.
I don't feel that I am missing out on much. Apparently there are call-backs and call-forwards to other games but this one is a prequel so...

And yes, there are no spawns.

No need to olay any game of the series.

There are references at most that you will miss and the gags, but most if not all the connections are explained

Also no respawn

Does it ever feel like you miss out on battles, or making the world feel empty because of it? It's what it did for me in 1 in a way, hard to explain. I dunno.

In a way it feels good because no need to grind or farm, but I want that option

The world does feel empty once you've killed all the potential enemies, yeah.

No.

The more rpg cut down on trash combat the better.

All my favorite rpgs dont have respawn mostly

To answer your question, 2 doesn't have any problem with 'non-respawning' enemies.

You won't need to re-kill anything. It serves no purpose.

Wait, I don't remember how it was in 1 but I think I'm recalling something like I can't level up every character this way because there isn't enough monsters for that? Or am I remembering wrong?

No. In both games, all exp are shared equally even to non active party members

There are no xp flaws in DOS2. You will not need to re-kill enemies. It's just not an issue. It's balanced so that if you kill the things you're supposed to, you'll be the right level.

It's a lot better than 1.
