american slavery is treated as an issue in america, by americans. it's not like the world comes after us about it. I dunno what they do in britain about the subject

like I really doubt some british or french people argue how horrible americans are for having slaves. maybe they have discussions about their colonialism and whatnot in their own countries

the Muslims (Arabs and Turks) had equally or larger slave trade which lasted for a long time.

i believe they took mostly Africans, and Slavic and Meditterean Europeans.

Looking at the history of it, the Empire abolished slavery pretty much on their own. They didn't have a civil war over the issue and still have people glorifying the country that wanted to keep it in 2017.

America also had the bad optics of

1) rebelling against their oppressors
2) forming the land of the free where all men are created equal
3) still keeping slaves
4) haggling and eventually declaring them 3/5 of a person

That was fairly awful. It even continued on, to this day, even after was made 'actually' illegal.

I had meant more specifically enforcing it around Africa with their navy though
