As for now, it is still the highest market price and market cap, but as for practical use, it is an ancient relic because the fees are huge and transfer time is slow. Ethereum and litecoin totally outclass bitcoin in term of practical use.
As for right now, the best ones in transfer time and fees are ripple and stellar, which i think gonna grow exponentially in 2018. never, at the very least it is digital gold and it's first mover's advantage will give it plenty of time for the lightning network to fix the fees and transaction times

Stellar is less than a quarter and seen like 600% growth since september.
Ripple is like 90 cents from less than half a dollar these last 2 weeks. 2018 is guaranteed to gain 1000% increase easily.
