We have had a lot of applications for the role and while you have some very strong skills I feel the role would have been too junior for you given your experience.

Apparently this dream job which was a 10k payrise and hit all the buttons is too junior for me. I'm not even happy about that. I look at more senior roles and balk.

Feels bad man. I really wanted this job. I'm not even sure I should take that excuse either, although I don't know why he'd make that up either.

Strange thing is his first email was to ask about my salary expectations because "we're looking between X and Y salary", and I told them that was fine and within my expectations.
