See this all the time, users with lots of hostility towards users with not much karma. Why? Maybe one user they've never seen before with a lot of karma and another they've never seen before with little karma and they're much more hostile towards the user without much karma, wtf?

And yes, there's a difference between a New User who has low karma and a user who's just new to PotD. Not sure how you could think there's no difference.
