Disney isn't buying the Fox TV network as that's illegal. They are only buying the movie division and television programs. Fox Sports, Fox News, and Fox TV will stay in Fox's hands.

Long story short: Constantine Films owns the production rights for the F4, while Fox owns the film rights to them. Therefore, Disney can't really do anything with the F4 until they strike a deal with Constantine Films.

It's not that much of a cause for alarm (since the F4 film rights don't mean shit to Constantine films without the ability to actually distribute them) but it does add another complication to the F4 returning back to Marvel Studios.

That's obviously a big reason why they're doing it. The other reason is to gain full ownership of the Star Wars films.

The other shit is basically a cherry on top, and I doubt they'd be that interested in a deal without the X-Men/F4/Star Wars aspect of it.

Disney has essentially been running the media for at least 20 years now, and they've been doing these shady deals with Murdoch forever. So this isn't really a surprise. I doubt legislators will care.

Edit- also to the family friendly point, Disney literally gives no fucks about that. They keep smut away from the Disney brand itself, but they own plenty of it. I think they own either Showtime or HBO, pretty sure they own MTV and Spike as well. Anything music related is essentially theirs.

They own none of those companies lol but they've been making Rated R movies since the 80s and no one seems to realize that they own multiple film studios.

They could do X-Men/Fantastic Four cinematic universe independent of the Avengers series.

I wonder what this will mean for the comics. Marvel significantly downplayed the X-Men since they were unable to make movies. Now they will wholly control them again, I guess we are in for another Universe reboot.

Dude thats what Im saying. The inhumans arent bad but they arent a replacement for the X men.

Its been painful to be an X men comic fan as they constantly keep getting screwed.

Yes... and given that the 2nd most likely buyer was fucking mother fuck Comcast, this seems not so bad by comparison.

But I'm still not happy with this particular transaction. I think a smaller company like Netflix could have really benefited from this and make the market a lot more competitive.
