Republicans took offense and claimed that Obama was comparing Trump to Hitler, despite Obama never speaking his name or referring to him in any sense whatsoever.

Lmao it's pretty telling that conservatives get extremely defensive when people bring up the things Hitler did to seize control of Germany or when people say we need to be sure to adhere to the Constitution to protect our democracy. The reason is because listing those things does sound like you're referring to Trump. Hell I even saw someone try to argue that Obama was closer to Hitler than Trump is and stated reasons like "he divided the country down racial lines and harmed the race he despised the most" and some other mind numbingly stupid arguments.

Anyways, are conservatives ever going to grow up? I mean I get that they were super pissed off for the absolutely devastating losing streak they've been on since Clinton's impeachment backfired on them. And no I don't mean losing streak as in losing elections since that's a pretty steady pendulum swinging back and forth. I mean as in even when they're in power, they just shit the bed and don't move their agenda forward, while in that time there have been two massively popular and successful liberal presidents. So I understand why they had to throw a hissy fit and elect Trump, they were super frustrated and butthurt and needed to get a win over liberals just to avoid losing their sanity.

But now? The show is over, time to wake up and realize Trump is a garbage president and an even worse human being. Republicans are supposed to be the mature, rational, pragmatic party, and we desperately need them to be just that right now more than ever. The country needs intelligent Republicans, please stop allowing these fucking nutcases like Trump to co-opt your party, he doesn't even agree with your politics anyways.

Because the genersl temperament that is indicative of a conservative viewpoint is generally more mature and pragmatic than that of their liberal counterparts. I mean it's pretty obvious to me, their job is to maintain the status quo and resist pretty much any and all changes. Liberals are better at other things tho.
