#MeToo?

I support it to raise awareness of sexual assault and harassment. People (especially men) tend to ignore these problems, but we should be more conscious about it.

Raise awareness? It's all over the fucking place. How could anyone not be aware?

Look at this board for example. People (especially guys) trivialize sexual harassment (and even assault) all the time.

No. Because we're somehow at a point where we're comparing rape to women getting offended because somebody asked them out on a date.

Yes but I also support due process and giving the accused a chance to tell their stories and their side of things in a general sense.

If there's blatant proof then they don't get that option in my eyes.

So they're aware and they don't care.

I think it's something that gets buried too much and is worth addressing. A bunch of girls I've known over the years have confided in me with stuff about sexual assault, and it's definitely not acceptable. I mean, none of them ever told the cops, iirc, but they all had their reasons for not talking about it. It was just sad to listen to, but I appreciated the fact they felt they could tell me.

Of course. There's nothing to disagree with.

A lot of women deal with this shit and don't tell anyone to conform. That's not right.

Without question. I have female cousins and aunts and may one day have a daughter and I, sure as shit, don't want them getting harassed.

Not really, no.

I'm obviously not in favor of sexual assault, but as Vy was getting at, the movement creates potential to forego due process and ruin someone's reputation without much evidence.

It also feels really shitty to me to ruin someone's reputation over something that happened, like, 10+ years ago. People can change and mature a lot over time. Getting someone fired or blacklisted now over a comment they made/photo they took/etc. a long ass time ago doesn't necessarily seem fair imo. The exception would be if it was something more severe (forceful contact, rape) or if it's a behavior they've continued doing recently.

calling it a "movement" is a bit of an overstatement - people are just talking about their experiences

that being said, I do support it, as any decint person should
