Today we're beginning the first phase of the moderation overhaul discussed a few months ago on the Team GameFAQs board. The first change that will be rolling out is that there will now be moderator notes left by the moderator when they delete a post. This will be mandatory, meaning that all deleted posts going forward will have a moderator response attached to them. You'll be able to see this message when you view the moderation on your account. The idea here is to try to basically eliminate the first wave of disputing, where the user doesn't understand their moderation and the moderator has to explain it to them. By leaving a message beforehand, the user knows why the moderator deleted their post and can focus their dispute on why they feel that this reason wasn't right. Aside from that, it just makes sense to have the moderator explain their reasoning to everyone involved. It helps not just the user, but other moderators who might look at the post during disputes. Seems like this will significantly increase the response time for marks with the current staff. I'm guessing a new round of mods must be on their way. Anyway, this a good change assuming the mods use the proper tone, which is certainly not always the case in dispute responses.
