Why else are their games allowed to look so nice nowadays?
Bigger budget? Newer hardware? Nah. FromSoftware had terrible and average looking games before BB and DkS3 launched. Where did all that talent and art direction come from? And such a rapid release window? ... Copied to Clipboard!

They worked on Bloodborne for a long time, then put a bunch of those assets into DkS3.

They made Armored Core games which I thought were fun, but they generally sold poorly and had bad reviews. I don't know how they decided to make Demon's Souls but that probably gave them enough money to reinvest and make the series better from there.
