I feel like parody is pretty much pointless in this day and age.

Most people will take it at face value anyway without understanding the actual intent, and when it comes to the people who DO understand what your point is, the people it's directed at will easily ignore or never see it, while the who agree with your point-of-view don't need to be convinced in the first place (and tend to come across as being kind of shitty when they revel in parody humor involving the subject).

Satire is dead, and we killed it.
