The main story behind the new "expansion" is that it's now locked content that was present in the base game for anyone who didn't buy the "expansion".

Ie. You can't do anything at "Prestige" difficulty anymore because they upped the level for it to 330 and you are capped at 305.

I have no fucking clue what people expected, especially when most map packs are only 5 dollars less.
2 new crucible maps, 2 new strikes, new weapons and armor, a new 4 hour campaign, new zone, new raid areas, new emotes and ornaments. Like what the fuck else do you want?

It doesnt fix the problems that D2 has, but it has plenty of content for 20 bucks.

Everyone went and bought it without knowing what they were getting into, and they deserve all the shit they got for it.

I honestly liked the game, it has great shooting, but it has several issues that need to be worked on before it becomes a great game, in my case, and it might be entirely opinionated, is how the loot works in the game, i just don't like being forcibly time gated once you get to a certain power level.

They are literally adding back D1 guns in an expansion for D2. The players had to start fresh in D2, and now Bungie's decided to add old content in the "new" paid content.

This has literally always been a thing with Destiny though. Year Two brought back some Year One guns, Year Three brought back some Year One/Two guns. Destiny 2 brought back some Destiny 1 guns so it only makes sense that the DLC would do the same, especially considering the short development time they would've had to make it out in December.

Curse of Osiris is Destiny 2's The Dark Below and it really shows.

The cynic in me says this DLC was developed side by side with D2. This DLC ended up being just a paid update to the game.

TDB was similar to this, but it atleast added an entire new raid, with cool new raid gear. I mean it wasn't a stellar dlc by any means, but better than HoW (imo) and def better than CoO,

Oh, it almost certainly was designed side by side. I more meant that because of it, they couldn't react to the complaints with it. And we don't know how big the new raid layer is, I suspect it'll probably be about the size of Crota just stuck inside parts of the Leviathan with a different door you open or something to get to it.

I was under the impression that's what it was supposed to be. What happened to Bungie's "10 year plan" of updates? I thought they weren't making a sequel and were just going to add onto the base game. Either way it's a complete mess.

I didn't mind the first game. I had a lot of friends playing and invested a lot of time in it. Enjoyed it for the most part, although even back then I thought it was bs how half-assed the DLC seemed to be for what they were charging.

I bought Destiny 2 not knowing what it would be unfortunately, so I got the deluxe edition with the expansion pass. Haven't even bothered playing through the expansion yet, I stopped playing the game over a month ago when I discovered there was virtually no end game.

They had to somehow get the game off of two consoles it should never have been released on. Putting it on the PS3 and the 360 was such a bafflingly bad decision that negatively impacted the PS4 and Xbone versions the entire time.

And the story is still an absolute fucking mess.

I am in a Destiny 2 discord my buddy owns with over 200 players. My general chat has been going nuts for the past 24 hours. All I keep hearing about is how they're looking forward to the QoL more than the next "expansion". Personally, I wasn't very impressed with it-- I wouldn't even call it an expansion because there was nothing expansive about it. It's short and vapid. The raid comes out on Friday and I am going into that with an ill outlook. When will Bungie ever research the definition of expansion?

Story, internal storylines, a map, matchmaking, clearer factions, etc. I mean, most of that stuff should have been in the first game, but this game is an improvement.

People are just whining to whine. "Waahh, there is no endgame after I play for 60 hours!". Remember when beating a game was the end? Demands like creating an end meta-game is the reason that storylines and main campaigns are so short now.

Yeah, and I went into expecting that. I don't expect every game to be infinitely complex and overdesigned. I mean, it's a game about literal space Jesus planet coming to Earth and giving everyone space magic to fight off evil space magic. If it lets me throw around laser beams and shoot six armed bandits in the face, it's pretty much met my expectations. The rest is pretty much gravy for me at this point.

I agree with most of those. However, having room to improve doesn't mean it's a piece of shit. I spent like $80 out of it and got like 60 good hours of entertainment out of it. I don't expect it to entertain me forever.

I literally traded Destiny 2 in today.

It's personally some of the lamest shit I've ever played, and I'm not willing to wait it out like all the fans keep telling me to do.

I had fun with vanilla D1 for about 2 months before most of my group had finally beat VoG on hard mode, then it got lame from there on out. I almost bought the second game hoping that it had taken major steps forward, but after seeing the majority opinion on it I'm glad I didn't waste the money.

Despite it's issues Destiny seems to have one of the most devoted fan bases in gaming. Destiny fans are extremely protective of Bungie and a lot of people seem to be straight up addicted to Destiny. I mean, I understand that MMO and Looters are supposed to be addicting but Destiny is something else.

I stopped playing Destiny 2 shortly beyond a month of it releasing. Got all characters to 305 and then didn't have anything to do. I thought I'd be coming back to play the DLC's but decided back around early November that I just wasn't very interested in it anymore. Maybe they'll bring in a big DLC package after whatever follows the current DLC like they did with the Taken King but as it stands now, nothing looks good enough to merit coming back for me.
