Jury duty has a massive set of flaws in this day and age. Being judged by a jury of your peers means... being judged by a bunch of people who weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty.

The point I was making is that people make arguments in support of both jury duty and taxes, basically saying you need to do them even if you don't want to, because you owe it to this country to do your part (in the case of jury, by helping the courts function, and in the case of taxes.) So why the hell is it both? If we have to pay taxes every year to fund the government (and in turn help America in theory), why is it then expected of us to then serve time as a juror on a regular basis on top of that as well? Plus, people tell you the same about voting, insisting even if you don't care about who's running, it's your responsibility to do so.
