...placing it? Were you able to succesfully cancel it most of the time? Does the seller really have any incentive to cancel your order? They can just say that they didn't see that you wanted to cancel it even if you tried right after you placed it

Amazon is pretty easy as long as you buy stuff offered by Amazon and not a 3rd party seller. I never get stuff from 3rd party sellers on Amazon, I have had nothing but problems from them. Just make sure you cancel before it ships.

eBay is good as long as you cancel before you send payment. After that, I don't know what you would do.

On eBay, if you can't work something out with the seller, you just will have a negative rating/feedback on your account.

So if it happens multiple times, I guess eBay or Amazon will either suspend or ban your account after awhile.
