The peasant revolt in 18th century France was caused by the income disparity becoming so massive that the peasants literally could not afford bread. In today's society with mass production of food, that sort of extreme scenario is unlikely. I am not sure things will ever get bad enough for a revolt.

Unlikely unless we come to a situation where the poor literally can not afford to feed their children. As long as food and fresh water are largely available, it doesn't really matter how in equal the income is.

Ive spent time in highly conservative small towns.

Democrat is a bad word. Liberal is an even worse word.

Right now, I live in a very liberal area. Conservatives feel culturally oppressed. If you go to a very conservative area, it is liberals who will feel culturally oppressed, as I did when I spent several weeks in small-town Iowa, where people felt entitled to asking me what my religion was, then talking down to me and telling me what Id eventually find something if I kept searching.

Incidentally, this is why I feel so pessimistic about the future of this nation. Its very hard to make things work in the long run when you have two mutually antagonistic civilizations within a nation.
