would you

Before my answer was no, but thinking about it, I always feel more comfortable knowing how much time I have left in something. Like, if I'm in school and I know I only have 6 weeks left until vacation, it makes those 6 weeks easier to deal with. Imagine if it was just an unknown amount of time. That'd be so annoying. I wouldn't know how long I have left so I'd have no drive to continue. Or like, a party. If I know the party ends at exactly 1:30am, I know that I should try to have as much fun and do as much stuff before it ends. If it just ends randomly anytime between 12 and 4am, then I'm more likely to just wait around for shit to happen.

But can you do something different to change it? Like say it tells you that you'll die at the age of 30 at 3pm, wouldn't you go through a lifestyle change/take precautions? It doesn't tell you HOW you'll die, but if you stay inside or at a hospital all day, start eating healthier, etc.. wouldn't this just be useless?

I think we can assume it would take into account your lifestyle changes. It is magic after all.

Well then you get into weird shit and I mean like by knowing how you are going to die you, you do what you said and it actually turns out by knowing you altered your destiny by making changes and those very changes you set yourself up to die as predicted and if you had never known you wouldn't have died when it was predicted. Some real mind fucking shit, you know what I'm saying?

No, because then that defeats the entire premise of it. Let's say you see the clock and it says in 2 minutes. So you go hide in your nuclear bunker for the next 2 minutes, but on your way there, you trip and fall on a rake or something and get impaled through the head. So the act of you trying to prevent the death would be the thing that causes it. And if it wasn't the case, if you died some other way, then the 2 minutes would reflect that too.

Basically, this is a magical clock that gets the time right, unaltered, no matter what you do.

Hmm, I think if offered I'd take.

One problem though. What happens if you cause your own death before the number comes?

Are you just like immortal until your number

The clock takes all that into account.

No. Then life turns into a countdown and the last months at minimum are just agonizing knowing you can't control the inevitable. I'd rather just go and have no clue.
