They have about 5 minutes of actual content/things worth saying. Yet they drag it out to like 20, or more.

Do they get more ad money for longer videos or something?

also the youtube machine that promotes videos likes view TIME and not just view count. so the longer the video, the longer the view time, and the more likely you're going to show up in people's feeds/be featured.

Let me show you this trick I discovered for (achieving achievement) in (game, OS, machine, sport, hobby, illegal activity, science experiment), that you can totally do in 20 seconds.

But first let me waste 5 minutes telling you how frustrated I was about achieving it before I learned the trick. I spent over 9000 days trying to do it, getting angry, getting tired, etc. But now, with this trick, it's super easy!

Now let me tell you for another 5 minutes how I came across this method, totally by accident. I was doing (crap in the thingy) when ( long narration of what happened) when suddenly, the achievement was done!
