The very beginning of the game is hard. If you pick up good equipment and skills later it gets drastically easier.

^ same.

thought I'd give it another try, though.

but I think that one of the issues is that big enemies can be as fast as smaller ones, using the same amount of stamina.

I'm trying to focus on one weapon type, this time around. hopefully it'll help me out.

yeah that game is so hard it's not fun imo

I got to some poison caves, got to the boss, got intereuptes by someone irl while fighting it, died, and literally couldn't find my way back lol.

sold it for tekken 7. which I then sold for Injustice 2. I'm happy w my decision.

are you doing that thing where you hit R1 (i think?) at the end of the combo to replenish your stamina? learning that is essential.

Spear would be the easiest.
I played my first playthrough with katana and dual katanas though.

Be sure to equip some kind of equipment or guardian spirit with enemy sense. You will never get ambushed.

Also try learning ki burst because the whole game is built with that in mind. Also unlock the skills that give you ki back whenever you change stance during ki burst and the one that triggers ki burst when dodging.

All these games need to cool it with the poison levels. Im looking at you Farron Swamp.

thanks for the tips.

I'm using a sword right now, but maybe in a different playthrough.

didn't know about all the ki stuff, though.

If you want to compare this with dark souls its really one of the major differences in combat.
In dark souls you hit the enemy and roll away or shield his attack then wait until you have stamina again to do it again.

In Nioh you can combo the enemies face and dodge his counter attacks and just keep on attacking him because of ki burst.
But the beginning of the game without the needed skills and a few more stats its similar as you have to hit the enemy 1 or 2 times and back of to replenish ki. Ki burst helps you do that faster though.
