19 y/o Danni Messina, a student at Washington State University took to social media with a charitable idea in mind...but that completely backfired after her goal went above her expectations..

She posted on Twitter to pledge 50 cents for every retweet and 25 cents for every "favourite" she got and promised to take that money and donate it to St.Jude Children's Research Hospital in Seattle!!

She said "This time of year is about giving, this year, i am giving back to St Jude & the families who are supported by their amazing services"

But that campaign went viral and she got 200,000 retweets and more than 450,000 favourites in 3 DAYS...which means she now owes 200,000 smackers!!

She said "I was originally planning on donating personally $1000"

She thought the campaign would just attract a handful of interactions from friends and followers but by the next day it spread like wildfire forcing her to CALL OFF THE DRIVE!!

She said "Wowza, ok. so we are stopping it here"...

In the end, it was 200,304 retweets and 464,151 likes..

But despite ending it and calling it off, she's determined to keep her promise and has set up a GoFundMe page to ask for assistance..

Danni said "I tweeted because i had absolutely no idea there would be that much support around the idea. So, unfortunately, i don't have the funds to support this, but here is a link to donate to one of the best hospitals there is"

She has since raised 11,050 from 775 donors and set the goal to 50,000

However some peple are stating she should HONOUR her deal because the users made the effort to retweet and fav her post...
