i just bought a jacket from america, and i realized that the zipper is on the right.

meanwhile, every single zipper-item i've ever bought before has the zipper on the left.
it feels so weird to use this thing. it takes like double the amount of time to deal with this one as it does a normal zipper.

is it just this one jacket that got a faulty zipper, or are all american jackets wrong like this?

Actually whatever you are used to is wrong and the American version is right.

I bought a jacket in Germany and I feel the same way >_> The zipper being on the left side trips me up even to this day when I put that on.

i use my right hand to hold the part that goes in to the zipper thing, that's where i need precision.

doing that with the left is just ludicrous (unless you're left handed)

imo the precision comes in when you're mating the "clasp" with the "chain", and it's easier for your dominant hand to do that...
Like with my weaker hand (the left hand) I just hold the "chain"... connection point steady in one spot (doesn't take much coordination) and then I can kinda feed the zipper in with my right, and it's a lot easier >_>.

As far as I know, men's clothing has zipper on the left side, women's on the right.

that's pretty much gonna be the exact opposite motion that i'm used to.
i usually hold the clasp steady with left, and feed in the chain.

just now, i was trying it on again, and as i was taking it off, i had trouble getting the zipper open, thought it was stuck.
then i realized that my hands were trying to open it like normal, and i had to make a conscious effort to do it the backwards way.
i feel that's gonna be annoying eventually

I mean it gets less annoying the more you do it.

Man, I never realized this. But that probably explains why most of my dad's hand me down jacket zippers are on the left side, I always thought that was the style back then or something.

Yeah, button and zipper sides tend to be a mens/womens thing.

Congratulations you bought your first men's jacket. I'm sorry you've been wearing women's clothes this whole time.

"Why isn't this jacket in alphabetical order?"
"What?"
"The zipper: it should be at the bottom."

i don't think it's like that here.
it seems to be like that with buttons, but not zippers.
