I hung out with some of my buddies during the Thanksgiving break, and we started reminiscing about our experiences with videogames.

It can be anything from a favorite moment to an experience before you even had a game.

I distinctly remember my first time seeing one of my friends play Oblivion which encouraged me to save up to be able to play it. I had only owned Nintendo consoles up to that point so I had never actually played a game like it before. My mind was blown when I saw him sneaking around, picking locks and summoning monsters.

We also all used to go home after practice and watch sports while talking on party chat.

No offense, but these topics always turn out to be pretty lame since the memories aren't going to be interesting to anyone except the person posting them

Maybe so, but it's nice to invoke a little nostalgia every now and then.

And I am a little curious to be honest, everybody takes different things away from their games after all.

Kind of in theme with yours... The first time I played Daggerfall, I was astounded by it. Just so intensely excited about the character choices and class making and leveling system and combat and buying clothes for my character. I was at a friend's house and I stayed up until dawn playing it. :P

same but morrowind instead. and it wasn't sneaking around and such. saw him go up to a dude and actually look him up and down. then my friend muttered "nice boots I think i'll take them" killed the guy took his boots and ran from the guards. I still remember most every detail, it was a ordinator in the city of vivec, and he dove off a ledge into the water surrounding the city to swim away from the guards.

I had never seen a game that allowed you to kill just anyone, or even offer close to the amount of choices a elder scrolls game did.

I never played the original halo. started with 2 and ended with reach. reach was my favorite, but i'm biased I never liked master chief and I love stories that don't have happy endings. only though because happy endings are naturally very common so the sad ending once in awhile is just a nice change of pace.

My friend in college pirated Halo 2 a few weeks before it was being released. However, since it was an illegal version, we only had French language as an option. So all the Covenant screamed in French whenever we attacked them. Being drunk off our asses and hearing those grunts run around in French was probably the most we laughed as a group in my entire college experience.

Besides memories of the arcade, I would say playing whole seasons of Tecmo Super Bowl with 10 or so neighborhood kids. We'd all hang out all day at one of the kid's house and play since he was an only child and his parents were gone during the day.

Back when I was like 6 or 7, my brother who is 4 years older than me, his friend and I were playing the story mode of Crash Team Racing. We were up to the final boss race against Oxide and it was mostly my brother and his friend playing it so I wasn't exactly the best at it. They both had a few tries at it and then they gave me a try at it and I beat the boss on my first try. They then lifted me into air like the champion I was. It felt good.

Gotta go with emulators.

The emulation scene (SNES and Arcade especially), in the late 90s was a neat time for me. It was a sudden expansion of my games library, the games themselves were not yet hopelessly dated, and I had the hardware to power through less than perfect emulation.

Also, from the 'you-had-to-be-there' files, the look on my friend's face when back in 1998 he wistfully expresses his dreams of having copies of every SNES game, not realizing, and I tell him, "Copies of every SNES game, eh? I can make that happen gimme a couple of days to put it together".

That was priceless.

Yeah gotta be discovering SNES emulation for the first time. fond memories of playing my granny's old (still working to this day) SNES as a kid, but then when i grew up to about 7 i was able to go onto her computer and download an emulator, suddenly all the games i never had a chance to play were at my fingertips, chrono trigger, final fantasy IV and VI and most importantly for me. These are all pretty great.

It's cool to see a couple other people have the elder scrolls as well.

A bunch of these actually resonate haha, I remember playing Crash racing with my brother as well.

At 10 yrs old I was making my first attempt to get 000 on Zelda aLttP, I was 3/4 through and the power went out.
Of course I wasn't happy at the time but I laugh about it now.

With friends it was all about Goldeneye then Perfect Dark then Halo.
