Theyre not numbered so I cant remember when youre meant to play them

play the games in release order. ODST is halo 3 DLC so play it after 3. play reach last, it's a very good send off for the series imo. don't waste your time with halo 4 & 5.

Play them in order, ODST after 3 and Reach after that. If you're going for chronological Reach is first in the series and ODST is mid-Halo 2, but don't do that.

Yeah definitely 1-3, ODST, then Reach.

I'm glad they stopped at Reach, more Halo games after that would've probably been terrible for the series.

4 and 5 are pretty bad imo, with 5 being the worse game from what i played of it.

i really dont think 343 took the series in a good direction with either game. maybe you'll like them, who knows, but 4 & 5 completely killed my interest in the halo franchise

Chronologically, it's Reach - > 1 -> 2 (p until you finish fighting in New Mombasa ) -> ODST -> Rest of 2 -> 3.

Up to whether or not you actually want to play it that way, release order is better imo.

People were saying the same thing whenever a new studio takes over a franchise and it's usually not too bad for me

Halo 4 was good, honestly.

I didn't play Halo 5 though because it was on the XBone and I refuse to get one of those. Also, it didn't even have split screen... garbage.

I didn't hate 4, I'd say it's worth playing the campaign. But 5 is only good for the multi, which is really solid

i hated how the campaign in 4 dropped the military/sci-fi vibe every halo game had to make it a melodramatic space opera. all of a sudden the master chief has feelings and a weird love thing going on with cortana, there's dumb set pieces, more linear and fewer big open fights, etc.

i didn't enjoy fighting the new enemies and i didnt like the new weapons, they were just dumb looking versions of the old ones. story-wise it felt like 343 didnt get why people liked the design of the original halo games.

multiplayer was a different story, it ruined things with loadouts, that stupid RNG ordinance thing, stuff like that. too much CoD crap

Yeah, I still enjoyed 4 overall but I wish they hadn't turned the series into something so fantastical. Sure it was never wholly realistic, but it had a more realistic feel before four. The books have also become increasingly fantasy-like as they've gone on and I kind of stopped after the first forerunner book. And the Chief/Cortana love thing was also fairly awkward though I guess it's somewhat acceptable. Chief certainly did grow attached to her over the years and that was evident in books as well as the games.

I tried really, really hard to enjoy 4 but the Prometheans are just not fun at all to fight. It has some cool parts to it, but not enough for me to finish it.

5 is barely a Halo game, also.

Did you ever play H4 splitscreen? That was awful. It's just not a thing anymore unfortunately but given what fps games became I don't really blame them for not including it in 5.

What was wrong with it? It was always fun in the original 3 games. It was sad that Halo 5 didn't support it. I don't think they'll make that mistake again.

Ah fair enough. Restricting split screen to campaign coop or local multiplayer would be disappointing but it's better than nothing. At least Gears 4 kept it.

This. The only fun thing about either is the custom online modes for 5 but that's it.

Both ways doesn't truly mess with the main story, mainly context of what happened before and during the Main trilogy

Also 4 was hot garbage. I haven't played enough of 5 to truly judge it, but from what I played, its definitely better than 4, at least multiplayer wise. 4's campaign is marginally better than 5

I also agree that Reach is a good send-off, so if you end the Journey with 3 Reach, you are still good

2 player spiltscreen local in Halo 4 was cool, but damn if you tried to LAN 4v4 with two 360s. Lag city. The system just couldn't handle it.

Yes I did; it was perfectly fine. Not even a little problem. Well, local I mean, and that's what I care about anyway.
