you as a human are far less efficient than a automatic car can ever be. you driving a manual gives you less control by default

You have no idea what you're talking about. Engine braking is a world of difference alone if you live somewhere with a lot of inclined roads.

I doubt Rika even leaves his basement, much less drives.

Pretty much this. Rika has admitted to being an unemployed, uneducated incel in his mid to late 20s. It is doubtful he even knows how to drive a car.

I always wondered what "more control" entails.

You know, practically. If you just like being able to drive recklessly that really shouldn't count.

Yeah I never got that either. What crazy shit are these people doing that requires more control than going, stopping, and steering

So you're basically just ignorant on the subject then.

It is for stuff like if you need power for getting through snow or mud or something. But that was more for back when automatic transmissions were not as good as they are now.

Makes sense.

I wouldn't expect muddy conditions to he common for a sedan driver but in sone places they do get a lot of snow.

You're literally knocking driving a manual insinuating manual transmissions equate to "reckless" driving.

It's just an ignorant statement.

Boring

If you're just using your car to get from point A to point B, why do you care how interesting it is?

What about an automatic vs manual dishwasher? Does the convenience of an automatic outweigh how it's much more "boring" to not physically wash dishes?

I am indeed. I legitimately don't know what additional control these people require that the majority of drivers in the US do not.

Yall are some lames. You all just dont know how or are too pussy to drive a manual.

Automatic definitely takes less effort.

But discounting the 'fun' factor of driving to prove your point is stupid. That's the only reason I drive a manual.

I drove a manual while I lived near DC. If you have ever been in Northern VA and know traffic around DC you can imagine what a nightmare that was.

Told myself I'd go automatic with any car that wasn't a performance vehicle after that and haven't looked back.

any engine braking effect is counteracted by the way most automatics handle cruising or deceleration. the whole idea is that you let off the gas and let the engine act as a huge air compressor. that's difficult to achieve when the transmission intentionally shifts into a high gear for efficiency or neutrals out. plus the gears/belts/clutches are designed to transmit torque to the wheels, not the other way around - it can be hard on the trans, especially if someone is dumb enough to force it into low gear at speed to achieve the desired effect
