Such a great game, nice atmosphere and all.
The mechanics are pretty nice. You can tackle pretty much any area in any order you want to, do sidequests or not.
And I just discovered a path between two areas.
I reached area A a few hours ago. Dead end.
Bunch of questing and whatnot later I reach area B.
Area B has a sorta hidden-but-not-so-hidden path,.. Guess where it leads? Yup! Area A's dead end!

Did I mention the atmosphere is great? I totally hated the insectarium level.. I mean it was great, but... fuck it, I jumped at nothing! and enemies came out of nowhere half the time, too! And the huge centipedes running around forever, made my computer's sub vibrate all the time. I sorta had my feet on them while playing.. dammnnnn!
All that for like $10 on Steam (on sale, really, but still even full price it'd have been worth it)

Game of the year for me! (ok I haven't played that many games that came out in 2017.. this is probably the only one, really. but still, great game!)

I only got like an hour into it, but I started playing it right after Ori, so I guess I got burnt out on metroidvanias.

Didn't play Ori, but I heard it was pretty good. Honestly, I looked both up on howlongtobeat and Hollow Knight was between 20-40 hours, depending on how much of a completionist you were, and Ori was around 10-20, for the same price, so I went with Hollow Knight.
But I know what you mean. I should totally finish Bioshock 2 and go on with Infinite but heh... I played Hollow Knight more in the past day and a half than it would have taken me to beat Bioshock 2... Oh well ;) Maybe I'll rush to the end sometime, or just skip it and move on to Infinite.

I was lucky enough to have stumbled upon the cartographer for the Deepnest after clearing the Mantis Lords. Only half wet my pants when fell into the main area later.

I remember traveling around Fungal Wastes before I ragequit one day. I thought that kind of game would click with me but it didn't.

Really? I love it. But yeah I know what you mean. Plenty of people love games X-Y-Z, but I can't get into them.
Tried to get into Payday 2 because friends played it.. Fuck that, I hated the game. Great multiplayer game, but I'd have liked it to have a single player mode so I could learn how it worked first, instead of being told what to do by my friends all the time.

Yeah the Deepnest is the creepiest area ever! Glad I had that map as well, but couldn't wait to reach a bench or SOMETHING to update my map!

Question. Is the toll at Stag Stations a one time pay thing or every time you use it?

One time pay, for each station. Afterwards you can "quick travel" there anytime you want, so long as you're at another station.
Once you get the tram ticket, it unlocks the tram forever.

I really hope a lot of people try out the Switch version, because the game deserves so much more hype than it's getting.

Get Ori, it's one of the most beautiful games I've ever played, with a soundtrack to match it. And despite the sort of cute art style, it gets fucking hard at places. Also the story is great, I can't wait for the next one.

Love the music and art in Hollow Knight. Dirtmouth is the best track, I think. And how it feels to control the knight, so smooth and satisfying.

Figuring out where to go next can get a little frustrating cuz of how vague the map is and how easy it can be to overlook items. Fantastic game tho.

I wasn't expecting much from this game when I played it, but now I recommend it every chance I get. I love it.

And since you mentioned the tram, I didn't figure out how to get it working until after I beat the game the first time.

Yeah the ticket is in such an out of the way area you could miss it entirely. Makes moving between areas easier though instead of backtracking through other areas.

Wish you could write on the map, there's areas that are blocked because I don't have a specific skill or item yet, it'd be nice to mark it on the map for later.

Awesome game. It's one of the better ones to play via Steam Link so you can sit on your couch and play with a controller.

Custom pins were supposed to be introduced in the 2nd DLC, but got delayed.

That would have been great. Oh well, guess exploration and backtracking is what makes these games what they are
