I remember the AI being an issue, but it is worse than I remember. The hit detection is irritating too. Most of the difficulty I've had so far is either due to the party members being stupid/getting stuck, or because some of my hits just not connecting with the enemy.

Yeah it's a terrible game by technical standards. I'm assuming the remake will fix a lot of that even though the art style is worse.

This has precisely been my issue with the game. The combat is rugged and awful. It's still a good game on many metrics, but I never in a million years understood people saying it was one of the best SNES games. I would guess it was the nostalgia from 3-player multiplayer.

It gets a little better when you get magic, but that's mainly because A. Magic is pretty broken, and B. You don't have to worry about the party's AI getting themselves killed because they're focusing on casting.
It's still alright. The charm is there, but there's been countless times already I've had difficulty in combat, and I don't mean from being low level either. And if I'm using a rather cheap method of fighting (magic) not to make the game easier, but to make the technical issues easier to deal with, then that's a big problem. The remake doesn't look as charming, but it's got to be easier to play than this. --- ...I think I'm done here... ... Copied to Clipboard!
