Why can't I figure out how to use battering rams? I'm not on a hill or anything

I don't really understand how to build my buildings. I'm so used to V that the District System is kind of throwing me off

Do I ever get any better cards to improve my stats? It keeps asking me if I want to change, but the cards are always the same and they're terrible. And I don't know how to unlock the bottom two, which I seem to have more cards for

How do I see if I have envoys or traders I can send out? I think I should have more than 1 trade right now

To use a battering ram, simply move it adjacent to an enemy city. At that point, all of your units attacking that city will deal additional damage to walls for as long as the battering ram is adjacent to the city.

To build your buildings, for most buildings, you make a district that that building is a part of, and then build that building. For example, you build a science district, and then a library inside of it. And then a university, etc.

To unlock more cards, research more civics. To unlock more card slots, change your government to a government that allows more card slots.

Traders are units that will pop up and can be ordered to trade from one city to another. You'll usually be automatically prompted to use a trader.

For envoys, just pull up the city state menu and see if there's any you can apply.

And how do you build a science district? Like, I was trying to build the Campus next to a mountain because I thought I heard that if you build next to mountains, it gives you more Science or something like that. But I could only build it on just a few tiles out of the many I had "open"

The Campus is the science district. You build a Campus, then you can built Libraries, etc within the Campus. Those all give you science points.

Some districts and other tile improvements have position requirements. For example, the Aquaducts need to be built adjacent to both the city center and a water source or mountain and Encampments can't be adjacent to the city center. It's possible you're trying to build the Campus too far away from your center.

You get policy cards as you research new civics. They typically have effects like "Reduce production cost of Settlers by 50%", "Reduce maintenance cost of military units by 1 gold per turn per unit", etc. You research civics like technologies, except it uses your Culture instead of your Science.

Envoys and Traders are different things.

Envoys are basically points you apply to city states that effect your relationship with them, determining whether or not you or another Civ control them and what bonuses they give you. You can check on those in the city states tab.

Traders are units that you use to trade within your Civ cities, to city states, or to other civs. You have to build them like other units and they typically require a Commercial Hub or Harbor to build more per city. You direct them where to travel and they provide gains based on that, similarly to Civ 5. The big difference with Traders is they are how you build Roads now. As they travel, they lay down road tiles behind them.

The exception to Traders building roads is with Rome. Rome automatically gets roads to cities they establish or capture as long as they're within trading distance.
