If people couldn't make alt accounts, and stayed banned forever, there'd be incentive to be nicer. I don't see why alt accounts should exist.

A better idea would be a sort of silent site-wide ignore. At the very least, it would take a little while for a shitposter to figure out what's happening.

I do like the idea of ignoring an account meaning you ignore its entire usermap. There are trolls who are obviously not very intelligent (like Tadamoto) so while it doesn't cover all cases there would be nothing wrong with implementing it.

Of course that would require making user maps somewhat public.

They'd still be heavily obfuscated, to the point that try to fish out alts would be a cumbersome process of ignoring someone and then observing who else goes silent.
