It is a big pile of wank, and only gets worse sadly.

America has net neutrality dying, and we have this. We're all fucked.

I'm really glad that Theresa May is combating terrorism by making sure she can watch everything we're all doing at all times instead of actually not rubbing shoulders with Saudi terrorist sponsors at every chance she can get.

Having full oversight of everything everyone ever does with everything will help them see when they do something wrong. If they don't, then nothing will happen, so we don't need to worry.

And hey, since this went into force we've had no terrorism attacks, so it is clearly working.

This is what I'm scared of in the future. Stuff like this always get opposed once, then those who wrote up the bill wait a couple months, then try again but keep it under wraps so that anyone who would oppose it never know, or find out too late.

It's what they are doing with net neutrality in America and succeeding sadly

Mainly the Lib Dems opposed it really. Shame they had to get into bed with the Tories and renege on the tuition fees promise. In saying that, they did moderate some of the Tory policies at least. Then the Tories got a majority and the rest is history...

It's an article about the agencies that can request your internet data under the Snoopers' Charter.

Lib dems are about as effective as wet tissue paper since they cuddled up with the tories unfortunately.

This sums up how awful May and Rudd are:

https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/news/theresa-may-amber-rudd-suppress-westminster-child-abuse-documents-national-security-reasons/20/11/

It's the height of hypocrisy to shelve reports into child abuse and terrorism (the Saudi Arabia ones) but expect everyone's internet browsing data to be recorded, including millions of law abiding citizens.

with the prevalence of CCTV and now the internet under constant surveillance, is this the first, first world police state?

i think the next step from there is cameras in people's homes.

TOR blocks this right?

I wouldn't rely on it.

There are basically two ways of using TOR as far as I'm aware: TOR Hidden Services (the Dark Web) or regular (non Dark Web) sites via TOR. The latter aren't as secure as the former (which is where the shady stuff goes on). However, even the former can be compromised with some effort, know-how and resources. The famous example is when the FBI took down Silk Road.

I'm sure someone who knows more about it can elaborate. I have a very basic understanding of it myself.

It doesn't even matter if they are watchful at all, it is the fact they did this.
