My back up vehicle is a 2001 Toyota 4runner with ~135k miles. 4x4, SR5 model, all stock. Transmission with less than 10k miles, few years when I retired it from my daily driver it was at 190 PSI +/- 5 PSI for all cylinders. Number of scratches and parking lot dings, probably worth $7500 or so. All stock.

It's mostly a back up vehicle and I use it to go on trails to go fishing or gold panning. I have to turn back on about 2/10 trails I try to take.

So I either need to spend about $3k on suspension and tires and eventually an air locker, or I can sell and get a 93-97 Land Cruiser. They are a bit better stock at off roading, but mostly I just think they look cooler. They are also bigger, which is good for me at 6'6. It would take about $10k to get a finished Land Cruiser in good condition comparable to my 4runner, though they will probably have about 100k more miles. Also more expensive to maintain.

If you want a dedicated offroad vehicle, just get a Wrangler Rubicon, or Sport if you want to build it up yourself.

My dad's 2011 JK rubi has >120,000 miles on it, with a completely stock and trouble free (if fucking weaksauce) powertrain.

wranglers are too small, at least in the price point i would want to spend (only been in up to TJs though). my knees are in the dash board when I'm driving one.

What about a four door? I know the two door ones are pretty much useless for more than two people and a small amount of luggage-sized items.

From my brief searching 4 doors appear to be outside my price range. about $10k is the most I want into my 2nd vehicle.

Ah, gotcha. I don't know too much about the Toyota offroading vehicles, Tacoma aside.

Other thought is an OBS F150. Maybe the 300 I6 4x4 manual. Red. That could be cool too, bust most of them are beat to shit and way over priced because everyone thinks theirs is cherry but they haven't properly maintained it in like 15 years.
