Cats have cat smells. I work in a building that had over 90 cats in it for a bit... There was no way to hide that smell

It's usually the litter box.
But cats do have a smell, but it really depends on the cat and situation.
Some cats have no noticeable smell at all.

it's not hard to shove my nose into my cats fur and breathe in

they smell like nothing, or whatever it is they were lying on, so usually whatever the laundry sauce smells like

and if you properly clean the litterbox, that doesn't smell either

I believe I read something about this once- cats have less of an odor because they're small predators and don't want to be detected by larger predators, nor do they want to give away their scent to potential prey.

It's most often when owners have poorly disciplined cats or don't clean their litter often. The house starts smelling like cat urine.

Yes those are smells

I just sniffed my cats and one smells like dust and laundry, the other one doesn't have much smell except for the faintest trace of her breath.

You should see one of my 3 cats, unlike the other 2, he has a real distinct smell to him, often downs he downright stinks and you can smell him from a few feet away.....

I once mentioned how male cats spray to my roommate. He then mentioned that he noticed the smell from my cat. Knowing my cat was long neutered, I asked him to describe the smell. He said it was pleasant and flowery. At this point, I burst out laughing because he was smelling his kitty litter scent and thought the cat was putting off a pleasant smell this entire time.

If you car has an offensive odor, you should take it to the vet and/or learn some basic pet care. My cat just smelled like my house, where he spent all of his time.
